While KJOL does not depend on national charts to determine what we play, several Christian artists have been recognized for their success on radio, confirming why they are favorites of Christians everywhere.
CHRIS TOMLIN
Chris Tomlin recently marked his 21st #1 song with “Holy Forever.”
And the angels cry, Holy
All creation cries, Holy
You are lifted high, Holy
Holy forever
And for the last three years, Tomlin has had a song at the top of one chart or another continuously!
Tomlin said, “I remember over 20 years ago being told that radio wouldn’t play worship music. So… to have the ongoing opportunity to help give people a voice to worship God through radio, through streaming, through live events, and through songs being led in the church… is something I will never take for granted.”
(As a side note, KJOL has been playing worship music for more than 30 years! Maranatha, Hillsongs, Vineyard and Integrity were pioneers in contemporary worship music.)
MERCYME
MercyMe’s new song “To Not Worship You” recently hit #1, marking the band’s 20th #1 song.
“To Not Worship You” is an unusual title. You have to listen to the words to understand what they mean:
You're the one, You're the one
Who makes mountains move
Stars will not shine
Unless You tell them to, tell them to
Conquered the grave
To make all things new
So, who am I, who am I
To not worship You
PHIL WICKHAM
Phil Wickham’s new album, “I Believe,” debuted this month at #1 on Billboard’s Top Christian Album Sales chart. It features his #1 hit “This Is Our God”.
This is our God
This is who He is, He loves us
This is our God
This is what He does, He saves us
Wickham was one of the headline performers at Nightvision in Grand Junction last June.
In 2014, after releasing “This Is Amazing Grace,” Wickham lost his voice for six weeks until making a full recovery.
