The Good News!

This world seems like it’s spinning out of control.

Abuse, crime, poverty, disease, strife...hurt....death. Where there are humans, there is some form of suffering. But just as we all suffer…we all look for peace.

So how can it be found in a world such as this? We at KJOL have experienced the words of John 16:33:

"These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world." 

The only real peace is found in eternal salvation through Jesus Christ.

How do we find it? Let’s start at the beginning.

The Bible clearly tells us that eternal God created everything in existence. The first verse says:

“In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.” 

The earth was created in a state of perfection, by a perfect God. So how did it get to be in the depraved state we see today?

The first man and woman were given the choice to disobey God; and eventually, they did. With this first sin, the earth was cursed, and the slippery slope of sin was punished by a perfect and just God (Genesis 3). Sin and death entered into existence and continues to this day. It created separation between God and humans.

But God in his mercy, and in His perfect timing, would one day redeem those under the curse of sin. 

The prophets of old foretold this event throughout human history (Isaiah 53:5-6 for example); and something would have to die to atone for our sin (Leviticus 17:11, 1 Peter 1:18-20) Over 2000 years ago, the greatest story of redemption finally took place.

Since “all have sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God” (Romans 3:23), no one was worthy to pay the penalty of sin, except the glorious and perfect God Himself. So, He came to earth, was born of a virgin, did miracles before witnesses, and paid the price. Taking our sin upon Himself, He was crucified upon a Roman cross (Luke 23).

But He did something that no mere man could ever do…He rose from the dead.
(Acts 2:23-24).

Romans 6:23 says:

“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” 

Jesus died to pay the penalty of all our sins. In His resurrection, He made eternal life a free gift to those who accept it. So, how do we except this free gift?

"…if you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved” (Romans 10:9). 

Believe, repent, and confess.  Talking to Christ though a simple prayer is a great start. It could go something like this:


“Jesus, I am a sinner.  Deliver me from my sin and forgive me. I turn from that now. Thank you for paying my penalty on the cross and for rising from the dead. Come into my life; give me a new start. You are my Lord.”


If you turn your life over to Christ, and believe in Him, God promises to come into your life, save your soul, never leave you, and begin His wonderful and amazing work in you. If you haven’t done this before, won’t you please do this today? Do not wait...the decision must be made in our lifetime, which for each of us, is quickly passing away.
