Praise Him Ministries is sponsoring Sanctus Real, Stars Go Dim, and Tim Timmons at Calvary Chapel Montrose Nov. 8 and Victory Life Church Fruita Nov. 9.
Sanctus Real
Sanctus Real began in 1996 when Matt Hammitt and Chris Rohman were tenth graders at Toledo Christian School in Ohio. They led youth worship and began writing songs. Their first album was recorded literally in a garage.
The name Sanctus Real is a combination of Latin for “holy” and being “real” about how they are just “real people” who perform by God’s grace.
In 2002, they released their first album on Sparrow Records. Hammitt said, “We had to figure out where it was we were supposed to be. We knew we could relate to kids in the church, and we felt this was the place we were supposed to be.”
Hammitt left the band in 2016 to spend more time with his family. The band recruited Dustin Lolli as the new lead singer. Lolli was a worship leader in Michigan and shared the band’s desired to move people closer to Christ.
Their new album was appropriately named “Changed.” Their music has also changed from power rock to a lighter pop sound.
Sanctus Real’s current song is Won’t Let Me Go.
You're never gonna let me go (I know You won't)
Even in the darkest places (I know You won't)
Even when my heart is breaking (I know You won't)
Even when my faith is shaking
You're never gonna let me go
Stars Go Dim
Stars Go Dim began as a secular side project of the Christian rock band Pillar in 2007. For eight years, it was known as a secular rock band. Then in 2015, lead singer Chris Cleveland signed a solo contract with the Christian label Fervent Records. However, Cleveland says the label wanted him to keep using the name “Stars Go Dim” even though he is basically a solo artist.
Cleveland makes music despite having no hearing in his left ear. He was born with a tumor in the ear and has had “14 or 16 surgeries” since he was 18 months old.
The current song from Stars Go Dim is Authority (In The Name Of Jesus)
I speak to the lies
Truth in the name of Jesus
I speak to the fear
Hope in the name of Jesus
I speak to the brokenness
Wholeness in the name of Jesus
In the name of Jesus
Tim Timmons
Tim Timmons wasn’t supposed to be here. I mean, he wasn’t supposed to be on the earth! In 2001 he was diagnosed with an incurable cancer and told he had five years to live. That was 21 years ago.
Timmons spent 15 years as a worship leader in California, and co-wrote “Blessed Be Your Name” (by Tree63) and “Open the Eyes of My Heart” (by Paul Baloche). Today he is worship leader at Journey Church in Nashville.
Timmons’ current song is This Is The Day.
Each day I rise, I’ll fix my eyes
On Your promises, over and over
That I am loved, no matter what
And You are enough, over and over
This is the day that You have made
I will rejoice and be glad in it
Timmons and Chris Cleveland and Dustin Lolli are all friends who enjoy collaborating on music. They are currently on tour, including Calvary Chapel in Montrose on November 8, and Victory Life Church near Fruita on November 9. Tickets are $12.
