Here’s a brief introduction to several new artists heard on KJOL currently:
JWLKRS
Pronounced “Jay-Walkers”, JWLKRS is an Orlando-based group of young adults led by Noah Schnacky. “Jay-Walkers” stands for Walking with Jesus. They often collaborate with two other recent arrivals on the Christian music scene: Maverick City Music, and Housefires, both based in Atlanta. Noah Schnacky is a 27 year old former country singer and occasional actor (he once appeared in an episode of “How I Met Your Mother”).
Housefires
Housefires is an Atlanta-based worship collective at Grace Midtown Church. Their name refers to the house churches where the collective began, originally simply known at the Grace Midtown worship band, led by Pat Barrett (who co-wrote “Good Good Father” with Chris Tomlin).
Roxanne Grace & AWZY
Roxanne Grace was redeemed from a life of addiction and abuse until she had “a radical encounter with God” in her early twenties. She is now an evangelist and musician in Phoenix, where she is also married to Lance Brown, the General Manager of DREAM Records (with artists Joel Vaughn, Bonray, Switch).
AWZY ("ozzie") is Austin Moore, also of Phoenix, and also with DREAM Records.
Dwan Hill
Dwan Hill co-wrote CeCe Winans’ huge hit “Believe For It” with CeCe and Mitch Wong. He graduated from Belmont University in Nashville, and is a musician, songwriter, producer and church leader in Nashville.
Evvie McKinney
Evvie McKinney grew up in a musical family in Memphis, learning gospel music from her father. In 2018, at the age of 20, she won the Fox TV competition “The Four.”
Jaime Jamgochian
Jaime Jamgochian (“jamie jam-GO-shun”) had a promising music career in the early 2000s until Lyme disease sidelined her for years. She has now found healing and recovery. While a student at the renowned Berklee School of Music, a friend led her to Christ. Signed to Centricity Records, she recorded a popular song called “Everything You Are” (which you may remember hearing on KJOL).
Today she is part of The Belonging Company in Nashville, a collective of Nashville musicians, including Natalie Grant, Kari Jobe, Hope Darst, Meredith Andrews, Cody Carnes and Danny Gokey.
