“He will call out to me, ‘You are my Father,
my God, the Rock my Savior.’
And I will appoint him to be my firstborn,
the most exalted of the kings of the earth.”
-Psalm 89:26-27
Have you ever heard of “Ethan the Ezrahite?” Neither had I. In the Hebrew Bible, it mentions the author of Psalm 89 as a boy at King David’s court who was known for unusual wisdom. ‘Ol Ethan’s prophecy about the coming Messiah was that he would be of the line of David and would call God His Father (which Jesus indeed did, though he was Himself is in fact Eternal Father, Mighty God). Ethan prophesied that the Messiah was to be the Firstborn, a term that also speaks to His pre-existence (Colossians 1:15-20). And while unlike Jesus, we are created beings, a precedent was set that we too would be called children of God.
“I will be a Father to you,
and you will be my sons and daughters,
says the Lord Almighty.” -2 Corinthians 6:18
For those of us blessed to come after Christ, we too have the honor of being called children of God. It’s part of God’s plan from before Creation (Ephesians 1:3-4)! I think that means we are related!
“Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.” –Galatians 6:10
When it comes to KJOL, our mission is three-fold: to share the Gospel, to encourage and instruct the believer, and to lift up the local body of Christ. Two of our three goals include “doing good to the family of believers.” In the dark culture we now live in, there is great need in shining the Light of Christ to our brothers and sisters. Would you be willing to join us in doing good to the “family?”
We need your prayers each and every day. We also need your financial support. We are a local 501(c)3 non-profit organization committed to the Gospel and to God’s family. And as a non-commercial Christian ministry, we exist through the generosity of our listeners…you. As we close out 2023, please don’t forget to make a year-end gift to Local Christian Radio. If you would like your gift to qualify for the 2023 tax-season, we need those in our hands or postmarked no later than midnight December 31st. You can give online, or put a check in the mail to our address. However the Lord leads, thank you for your heart-felt support of KJOL as we look forward to ministry in 2024. God bless you and Merry Christmas!
