Political season is in full force in the US, and I recently came across a great meme…Make America Godly Again! Catchy as it is, and corny as it is, it is actually what we really need. We have so many problems in our community and nation…we need wisdom…but we REALLY need the Holy Spirit in lives, changing minds and hearts. The very best solution to the woes of our country, is Christ the King.
It’s curious how we believers get so worked up about our candidates (and those that they don’t like especially)…it’s true that we face very serious issues, and should absolutely work "to do good" to all. However, sometimes we forget that God’s purposes will be accomplished. There is great hope in Him.
Many political issues of the day are also Biblical issues, and are thus so worthy of standing up for. Despite what woke theology might teach...the modern idea of separation of church and state is not a Biblical one; and yes as Christians, we can and should stand up for what is right like anyone else. However, we should also remember that our first priority is to the Kingdom We Have Not Yet Seen. It’s very human of us to build our own kingdoms, but we should be prioritizing His always.
“The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.” –Matthew 7:25
During this political season, while others have their heads in the polls, I want to encourage you to be extra vigilant in evangelism, kindness, and reading and spreading the Word of God. And don’t forget to prioritize God’s Kingdom in your giving. We are blessed to have a number of good churches and ministries on the Western Slope, and a number are feeling the pinch right now (just like we are). In these tough days, everyone is asking for the little hard earned money we have. I just want to encourage KJOL listeners to keep the main thing the main thing…Christ’s Kingdom. Invest in that. If that means supporting KJOL…thank you. If that means pouring your energy into simply showing up for church...thank you giving Christ your firstfruits!
For His Kingdom,
Dave Andrews
