There is a reason my wife didn’t want to kiss me when I got home from work last week, and frankly, I don’t blame her! It all started when I was unpacking my lunch…I had just sanitized my desk after finding “signs of mice” on its top, and my nerves were already on edge. I decided to pop two Advil to calm my headache…taking a big swig of water from my water bottle, I realized something was not quite right.
I pulled an oddly shaped object out of my mouth and proceeded to spray my desk with all the contents that were previously in it… included two earwigs! They crawled around my desk while I frantically tried to both kill the earwigs and keep the water from reaching my computer! I still don’t know how they got in there…nothing in the water bottle…and scientists say they can’t really enter your head through your ears so that was a no go. My guess, is somehow two teenage earwigs crawled into the straw of my water bottle trying to get away from teacher supervision, sometime after I left home.
I thought about the very odd and rare occurrence (I don’t hang out with earwigs or know anyone who do) and decided I had to see if they were in the Bible. They are not. Was God trying to tell me something? One thing I did find in the Word: it’s interesting that insects are almost always referred to in Scripture as a “curse.” Great.
Then I started thinking about the power of the tongue, and how out of the mouth comes curses. “OK be better about my speech. Got it.” It’s interesting how we can use the mouth for awful things and also for amazing things…Kingdom things. In fact here at KJOL, that is how we do ministry…we use our mouths to proclaim light…the Gospel and the Word of God. It’s just as the Ethiopian eunuch asked Philip, “how will I know unless someone tells me.”
We here at KJOL are not shy about the telling of how salvation comes through Jesus and Him alone. But all of that is only possible because someone came before us with prayers and support. That’s where you come in. We need you praying for us regularly, giving financial, and simply telling someone to tune in. For more ways to support KJOL, go here. Thanks for being there…you are our foundation for ministry.
